This site will now reflect some opinions of Cathy's, even political opinions.  You don't have to agree and we can still remain friends.  This conservative independent (card carrying!) is actually going to support (gasp!) a Republican in the 2008 Presidential race.  I've been glad for some of the GOP's I supported in the past (yer doin' fine Ric Keller) and sad for some others (boo Mel Martinez!), but I think Thompson is the real goods here.  If it turns out otherwise I'll pull my support.

 

Truth Miners Ministries owner and founder Cathy Holden is going offline for a short time to write a book.  She will be back online sometime in 2008.  www.WorkingMom.com  has agreed to archive all the hoax articles.  They will have a contact for new research. 

A note from Cathy:  It has been a joy for me to provide this ministry for the last 8 years.  When I first got online I began to see that Christians were passing along many lies in email.  Some do not care that these are lies, but I think that the majority do but lack the resources to know how to tell whether the stuff they are getting is true or not.  Of course, no Christian should have anything to do with the territory of our enemy, who is named "the father of lies" by our Lord.  My hope was always that if people started examining whether or not that email was true, perhaps they might examine other parts of their lives for truthfulness. 

I began with just a few family and friends, a website and a monthly newsletter.  The newsletter grew to over 4,000 readers within just a few years.  I quickly learned that not all people are honest (on a TRUTH site no less!) and would dishonestly sign others up for the service, so I went to a two part sign up system.  That fixed the problem, but AOL began blocking my newsletter (they choose what their clients can and can't get and real spam gets through while legit stuff doesn't) and I simply didn't have the resources to fight them, so I finally ended up giving that up.  Still, people told other people and it still grew.  I personally answered email and that set me apart from the other research sites as well as the reason that I presented for doing the debunking. 

Now the time has come for me to move on into some new things.  I cannot say enough thanks to Sabrina O'Malone of WorkingMom.com for offering to pick up all my articles. 

I think that most of my friends already have my email.  Unfortunately, I am unwilling to post it to avoid the spam robots.  I'll be back sometime in 2008, hopefully with a book ready to be published.

 Spyware, adware and malware are increasingly becoming more of an issue for computer users than traditional viruses.  Traditional anti-virus programs are unable to catch this stuff.  Without adequate protection, your computer could be used by others without your knowledge to send spam or infectious trojans.  Worse, you could end up being forced to view porn ads.  I've cleaned up many a computer where grandkids were allowed unfettered access to download what they thought was just free, harmless fun stuff, but it was chock full of really bad stuff.  Home users, get rid of your annual fee to Norton by downloading free anti-virus programs from Avast or AVG, and spend the annual fee on a good anti-spyware program.  I recommend Counter Spy and am very pleased with it.
